Summary | 0000226: Back reaction torque for rope drums
Description | At present there is no relation between the torque applied to the rope drum and the linear force generated by winding rope. Very little torque creates enormous forces, often tearing the grids apart. Adding the backreaction torque would allow to regulate (and limit) the linear force generated as it would brake the drum rotation.

This could possibly achieved by setting the rope constraint anchor point at the surface of the drum instead of the center, changing its position dynamically to be oriented appropriately for the other rope end position. This would be just resetting (moving) the constraint, not requiring additional physics calculations. |
